- As of May 1, 2023, you should not have completed more than 20 months of PhD study.
- You must be nominated by a single Canadian institution that has obtained a Vanier CGS quota.
- You should plan to pursue full-time doctoral (or dual graduate program such as MD/PhD, DVM/PhD, JD/PhD) studies and research at the nominating institution in the summer semester or academic year after the announcement of results. It should be noted that financing is only available for the PhD element of a combined degree.
- To pursue or finish a doctoral degree, you must not hold or have held a doctoral-level scholarship or fellowship from CIHR, NSERC, or SSHRC.
- English is the required language.
